Bombproof Winter Shell
This jacket is one of Arc'teryx's top of the line winter shell jackets primarily aimed at Big Mountain inbound and out of bounds use. I am 5'10" 168 lbs and wear the medium - it provides room for layering, with great articulation the supports great range of motion. Powder shirt and length just below the hip provides great air and moisture protection on those the blower powder days. My jacket has performed great and kept me dry in all kinds of weather wet, snow and cold. Pockets are ample, but not overdone. Pit zips provide the needed venting on the chair or tram on the way up the mountain. Some may not like the offset collar, but the laminated chin area on the interior works great. The price is high, but Arc'teryx products deliver long lasting value. They literally last forever.

great color great jacke
This is by far the most expensive shell I own, but it's also the Best. It is bombproof, stylish, and functional. I've skied in freezing rain in this bad boy, and was having a blast. The Sidewinder is lighter and easier to pack. It doesn't have as many pockets, but to be honest the Free Thinker has too many pockets.

Arcteryx Sidewinder SV
bought this jacket off season. Have not tried it on the slope yet. Fits OK so far. Looking forward to next winter... Sleeve fit a bit long for me, but since my waistline is not exactly slim, the large size would be too tight for me at my waist!
