Great lightweight waterproof trail shoe
I've only had them a few days, but they are very lightweight and comfortable, especially for a waterproof shoe. The toe box is fairly generaous. I would recommended them.

Only Way to Go!
I purchased these shoes because I wanted a low cut trail running shoe for daily use and for light trail hikes. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing a pair and with Columbia's technology I decided to go with the Switchback. The day my shoes came in the mail it had snowed about 5 inches. So, like any curious mind would do I put on the shoes when I went home for lunch and wore them the second half of the day. They fit great out of the box and the size is definitely true. I am about 6'2" 200 lbs. and the shoe supported me well. My feet did not ache and the shoes did not need much breaking in at all. The sole in thick with excellent grip. I intentionally walked through the snow and ice to put the "waterproofness" to the test. Let me just say that they passed! After getting the outside of the shoes soaking wet with melted snow I removed the shoes and put my hand inside to feel for any leaks and they were bone dry. My feet were very warm too...it was 10 degrees out with a wind chill of negative 1. Also, the shoes did not slip on the icy sidewalks and I was walking at a normal pace. I'm not saying that you could run on the ice but they definitely work better than most tennis shoes on slippery surfaces. I have yet to hike in them but they are very sturdy and definitely keep your feet warm and dry. I have no doubt that they will hold up on the trail. Lastly, these shoes are super stylish and very very light...huge bonus. If you have been searching for a pair of shoes like this. Stop looking and purchase these.

I like em!
I have 3 pairs of hiking boots but weight is an issue so I needed a ultra light pair for airline requirements and these fit the bill. They have great traction and max ventilation. My only complaint is the footbed is worthless so they need orthotics but when I did that, they gave good support and fit like a glove.
