I have tried quite a few hiking pants and have not found a pair that does it all like this pair from Columbia. The fabric is fantastic, durable yet flexible. I like the pull on style and stretch waist band. I find it to be more comfortable than pants with zipper and snap closures, especially if you are scrambling over rocks. I wore these recently to hike in Zion and Bryce in Utah. They were great in 40 degree weather with a base layer and in 80 degrees alone. The fabric was not damaged by scrapes against rocks or stiff plants. I wear a 10 to 12 in regular pants. I bought these in a large. They are slightly big on me alone but perfect with a base layer. I am 5'9" and the length is perfect. They are trim enough in the fit to look great around town as well as on the trail. I highly recommend these pants!
