The ONLY way to camp
I've been camping with the Boy Scouts for years and several of the Scoutmasters purchased this hammock. I was skepitcal as I do not like motion, but after camping in the mud, I purchased one and gave it a try. I dodn't know what I was missing! Fast set-up and breakdown (strongly suggest the "snakeskins"- they make set-up/breakdown a snap), and my back thanks me every time I camp. The motion is minimal; doesn't bother me at all. And yes, it keeps you dry. Tips: *Ground tarp under your hammock to keep your gear off the ground. *Consider purchasing the bigger tarp (6 tie-down points); will keep not only you but all your gear dry. *For easy of set up, buy the Eno "slap strats" and 2 real carabiners. The slap straps have loops every foot, and by using these and the carabiners, you can set up camp in about 60 seconds. *Check out teh Hennessey Hammock site for useful videos on lashings

Superbly built
About 3 years ago I borrowed an Expedition Asym to use on a kayak trip, and it made a believer out of me. As soon as I got home I bought one for myself and one for my Boy Scout son - now he's a believer too. The design of the Expedition series is great - the entrance is a Velcro closure at one end of the bottom, so you crawl in from underneath, and the slot seals behind you. I awoke one night to find a large centipede crawling on the outside of the hammock, so I know the Velcro works! The removable rain fly attaches to the suspension cord right next to the tree, and requires two stakes (included) to lift the edges away from the netting to provide ventilation, and can be folded sideways to allow a view or act as a windscreen. Maybe it's just me, but I find the breeze blowing under the hammock at night carries too much body heat away, even here in the tropics, and I wake up shivering in the night. The solution is a Space Blanket in the bottom, doesn't even have to be unfolded completely. Hennessey makes several accessories for their hammocks, but here are two I would highly recommend: the first is a pair of "Snakeskins", slippery nylon sleeves that pull down over the hammock and make packing up a 20-second, mud-free snap. The second is the larger "Hex Fly" to replace the stock Asym fly, especially for extended camping or high-rain areas. The Asym is very well designed and durably constructed. I have been using mine for coastal kayaking trips in Hawaii for several years and the only problem I have found is that the Velcro strips have to be kept clean - they don't like sand, or the lint from my felt pack blanket! Cleaning can be tedious... at least it won't rust or break, like zippers. All in all, one of the best and reliable pieces of camping gear I own. Highly recommended. (Hennessey is a Canadian company, BTW, so buy your hammock from Great Outdoors, to avoid foreign surcharges)

I love this Hammock.
I bought this item about a year ago and have used it on every camping trip since. It takes seconds to set up and saves space galore in the pack. Weighs less then 1Kg (2.2lbs) and is smaller than a football. Also no need for sleeping mats, although on really cold trips they help with insulation. Overall top 3 pieces of camping kit I own.
