Classic Holden quality, style, and fit!
The Holden Benjamin Jacket! It's a great looking jacket with classic casual style. Has lots of cool aesthetic details like metal zippers, leather trim, and cuff straps that make it look more casual than your typical ski or snowboard shell. On top of that, it's made of a really nice, heavy (i.e. durable), woven material that kept me warm and dry on its first day out in a Mt. Hood blizzard where the snow was flying at you in all directions and the wind was howling like mad. It really was unbearable weather, but the jacket cut the wind extremely well and the generous and high "storm" collar saved my face from getting blown off while sitting on the lifts. I have to say the collar was one of my favorite features. It was designed extremely well. It seems at first glance maybe too roomy, but once you put on your insulation and your helmet, you've got alot of bulk around your neck and the back of your head, and the design of the collar allowed me to still zip it up and down with ease and allow full mobility of my head, while it protected my face all the way up to my goggles. Good job Holden. It kept me dry despite being buried in powder a few times throughout the day, didn't notice any moisture seeping through at all. Other than than, let's see... the fit is great for taller, lankier people.... I'm 6'0" about 175 lbs with broad shoulders and really long arms and the shoulders and sleeve length of the Large are perfect.... the body may be a bit long and wide for me, but I am pretty thin through the waist and hips. Definitely slimmer than a traditional snowboard jacket in a size Large, but still has the appropriate shoulder width and overall length. The only negative about the jacket in my opinion is that it is heavier than a typical "shell" that I'm used to wearing, but I guess that comes from the heavy (remember, durable) material used and the little bit of insulation that it provides compared to a true shell jacket. For the record, I didn't notice the weight while snowboarding, only when packing it in my bag for the trip up the mountain.
