Thorough review
Here is my experience with the jacket. 1) Quality. The jacket does not smell quality, it stinks quality. Perfect fit too. 2) Breathability: The real deal. Nothing protecting you from wind or rain breathes better (I have wind and shells jackets). Breathes as a wind jacket. 3) Wind resistance: I used the jacket during cycling, around 25km/h and face wind. I guess wind was 30-35km/h. At the beginning a bit chilly, after warming up, very comfortable. 4) Warmth. Is not warmth neither cold. During cycling test I was wearing a very thin and fit base layer. Warm enough. A thin fleece will perfectly complement the jacket. 5) Waterproofness. I made a test one day of rain. Took the watch, cotton shorts and t-shirt (worst conditions for being dry or warmth if sweating). After 20min of moderate rain (NOT dowpouring, but certainly raining), and 10 min of very heavy rain, my shoulders and neck were wet. Arms, chest and back were dry. 6) Stain resistance. Best I have seen. Two examples: During cycling a fly crashed in the jacket leaving a bloody stain. After 10min, gone. Another stain, more difficult (oily type) was reduced by the jacket and removed with a bit of water. 7) Price: If you find it for less than $200, buy it!

Great jacket need snow and ice to give a full evaluation
Check back in December and I'll give a full performance report. Right now all I can give is a fit and finish report. Recieved the jacket in the mail in a weeks time. I had to send it back for a different size. We'll get to that in a minute (altrec was great to deal with over the phone). I'm 5'11", long in the back and broad in the shoulders. Mammut claims the Verglas has a roomier cut than normal so I ordered a Lg hence the return for an Xlg. Fit was perfect. Room for layers without being tight yet doesn't bag on you without. Plenty of jacket below my harness - doesn't creap out when I stretch. Material has lots of stretch to it. Hood fits over my helmet good with no restriction to it. I don't have ape hangers for arms but both Lg and Xlg were plenty long, Xlg obviously being longer which I like, thumb loops are a huge plus.

update from first review
No pit zips, doesn't need them . This jacket breaths very well ! Sheds snow and light rain (on a scale of 1-10) a 7 . It's built well and functions well . Now for the negative , wind . I'd give it a 5 for wind breaking . This is not a piece of equipment you want to bring into the backcountry . Great for roadside ice or sunny days but not for day trips or multi day excursions .
