Best Meal in a Bag
We hiked the JMT last year, and made the mistake of only bringing 3 of these, among other dehydrated meals. It was the consensus best meal on the trip - tastes like a chicken pot pie. Next trip - ALL CHICKEN STEW!

It's not home cooking but it's light!
When you're on the trail for a couple days at at time, these are a hearty, lightweight option. Granted, they're not my mother's pot roast, but they're quick, easy, and light! If you're eating alone, the 16 oz pro pack size is more than enough!
