It's made with windproof GORE WINDSTOPPER fleece fabric and features a flat-seam construction along the contrast ear band. Outdoor Research utilized a classic four-panel construction that easily adapts to most head sizes. Unlike most beanies and knit caps out there, the Wintertrek Hat has a distinct hidden zippered pocket on the ear band that accommodates your hotel room key card or folded currency. One important note: When sized properly, the Outdoor Research Wintertrek Hat covers only a portion of your ears--the fabric doesn't extend to your lower ear lobes. This is a concern among some alpine and winter outdoor enthusiasts, although others tend to combine their Wintertrek Hat with a headband or insulated, lightweight ear protection.

Altrec Beanie A Must Have
I had this Outdoor Research beanie for over a year and lost it on a spring hike this month. I immediately replaced it. It is a must have for my pack. I live in Santa Fe and in the late afternoon on a mountain hike it can suddenly turn cold and windy. This beanie won't blow off and provides excellent protection from the elements. I wear it with the bottom turned up and if need be lower it all the way for ear protection. It takes up no room in a pack and is always a travel companion.

Favorite Winter Hat
This hat is warmer than others that I've tried because it is made of windstopper material. It's the perfect beanie. I bought this as a replacement for one that I lost.

Outstanding wind hat
I'm out in it every day walking the dogs and this is the best winter hat I have ever had so far. No wind gets through this thing, very warm and comfy. Love it.
