The North Face Men's Freedom Insulated Pants

If you do enough ski pant research and product comparisons, you'll probably decide that most performance ski pants fall into two categories: Ski pants that are highly waterproof but rigid, and ski pants that are stretchy but only water resistant. The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant is one of the few that offers plenty of mobility and waterproof protection. That's because The North Face relaxed the fit through the seat, knees, cuffs and thighs in their Freedom Insulated Pant. It's a free-fitting choice that layers well, although the Heatseeker insulation is usually warm enough for most winter recreation enthusiasts. Along with the articulated knees, the Freedom Insulated Pant features exterior thigh vents with mesh gusset linings to help keep you cool without allowing excess moisture to filter among your inner layers. These thigh vents are coupled with The North Face Chimney Venting system to help distribute cool air inside the pant.

  • Shell fabric: HyVent™ two-ply Foxfaille nylon
  • Lining fabric: embossed taffeta
  • Insulation: 60 g Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation
  • Waterproof, breathable and fully-seam sealed
  • Exterior thigh vents with mesh gussets
  • Chimney Venting™ ventilation
  • StretchVent™ gaiter with gripper elastic
  • Zippered handwarmer pockets
  • Zippered cargo pocket
  • Articulated knees
  • Reinforced cuffs
  • Pant-a-Lock compatible with other jackets from The North Face
  • Buddy lift clip

Long Length Great
Hard to get ski pants in long enough lengths. These are well made and look good and fit a tall person. They look good and have some insulation, so they should work for a range of weather.

All Around All The Time
I'll use these pants throughout the winter for everything from plowing the driveway to downhill skiing. This winter's slow start has not presented the plowing test but these pants performed great on the slopes. I tried them out on the limited trails at Sugarloaf in Maine. The trip up the mountain on the ski lift was quite comfortable, warm and toasty! On downhill ski runs the venting performed as designed, still warm but not sweaty. The pants certainly helped maximize my slope time! At 5'10" and 170-pounds with not a lot of body fat I'm pretty sensitive to winter cold and these pants, combined with my North Face Vortex jacket, were just the ticket! ...And don't sweat the baggy fit comments, roomy but not baggy is a better description.

Finally... pants that fit!
I bought a pair of these for my husband last winter, and he liked them so much that I bought him another pair this year. He works (farms) in them every day that it is cold. He says they are the warmest, most comfortable pants he has ever had. I was worried how well they would wear, but they do not have any rips as of yet, so they are very durable. My husband is 6'5" and weighs 200 lbs. I ordered a large tall and they fits nicely and look nice as well. I would definitely reccommend these pants to anyone looking to stay warm in style!!
