Best winter runners!
I got these for winter running. You can go through water, snow, slush, whatever Minnesota has to offer. They keep you dry and warm, and no break-in period. I have a wide foot and the cut of this shoe is perfect for me. I've never gotten any soreness from them, they have good support and cushion. I'm so happy with them I think I'm going to get a second pr. for down the road when these need replacement.

Nice trail runner
I have been trail running in North Face shoes for several years. I also hike and backpack in these, as they are highly supportive to the bottom of the foot and ankle. I prefer a lower cut shoe for backpacking/hiking for more flexibilty and versatility versus a hiking boot, which I find more restrictive, heavy and cumbersome. I have the previous generation of these shoes (the Ultra 104s) and the Ultra 105s are built on the same last and have the same basic construction, but the 105s have a few upgrades. They feel just about identical, except for the sizing. I ordered a 8.5 and found them a bit large, especially in the toe box. I have lower-volume feet so have returned them for a size 8 (I heard they ran large, too). Overall, these are great shoes and are highly supportive and durable with a protective toe cap which works great at preventing toe bruising from hitting rocks. I am very happy with my purchase.
