GREAT BOOT
Very light and waterproof. Fit true to size. Great support. A bit stiff starting out need a bit of break in, but to be expected. Wore them on several 3 mile hikes over steep terrain and very happy so far.

Excellent Pair of Shoe!!
Bought this pair of shoe after reading considerable amount of reviews from the Net. Being a bit doubtful about the sizing of the boots, I went ahead with Size 10 as it was advised from a few sites that the boots are best matched to your "true" or closest measured sized. Fits me perfectly. It was a raining week in Singapore when I first had the shoe with me, and I actually wore it to work, as my working shoe was soaked from the rain a day before. Not the best shoe walking on city flat surfaces, but that won't stop you from taking the additional grass route for more grip and a less crowded walk. The comments of some reviews of it being stiff are true, took me a good 2 weeks to daily wear and a more extensive weekend workout with the shoe, to get it bend and flex more naturally to my pace. This is actually my first Hiking Boots (was previously using running shoes more) and I find the lacing system of the shoe to be fantastic, and breeze to get everything tied and secured and very quickly your foot out of the boots at the end of the day. I have just walked passed a running steam up to ankle high today and everything felt pretty dry inside! Running around in the afternoon leave me with no sweaty feet as the shoe does allow some level of "Air Flow" From hiking up Mount Cook in New Zealand, to tackling the jungles of Malaysia, I feel the shoe provided me with sufficient grip and confidence to tackle tricky situations especially.

Feels great, looks great
This is my second pair of Zamberlan boots. They both are the best pair of boots I have. The 996 vioz is a great looking boot. It has a simple design without too many frills. The leather feels and looks like what it is: an expensive italian shoe. I almost feel like I shouldnt even be wearing them outside cause I might get em a little dirty. Zamberlan boots are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. And they come that way right out of the box. I dont know how they do it but the boots require basically zero break in time. I like the vibram sole, it has good traction without being too grippy. While I havent had these boot very long, I feel like they will be very durable. Many of the previous boots Ive had that were durable werent very comfortable, and the ones that were comfortable werent very durable. But the materials and craftmanship are so exceptional I think they will last for years. Finally a comment about the Gore tex liner. I've sprayed these several times with a pressure washer and have had zero problems with leaks, so I'd definitely say they are waterproof. They're expensive, but I'd recommend saving your money cause these boots are definitely worth it.
