Mi-Wok Ranger District

The Mi-Wok Ranger District encompasses the lower Highway 108 corridor of the Stanislaus National Forest. The District features six developed campgrounds, two picnic grounds, two hiking trails, one mountain biking trail, and three OHV riding areas. The Emigrant Wilderness can be accessed from two trailheads on the eastern side of the District for hiking and backpacking opportunities.

Recreation - The Mi-Wok Ranger District offers numerous outdoor activities. Camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV riding opportunities exist throughout the District.

Climate - Precipitation averages 50 inches annually, 80% of it in the form of snow. Snowpacks typically linger into June, sometimes later following very wet winters. Summers are generally dry and mild, but afternoon thundershowers occur periodically and nighttime temperatures dip below freezing quite often. Be prepared for cold and wet weather at anytime of the year.

Location - The Mi-Wok Ranger District is located in the southwestern portion of the Stanislaus National Forest. To reach the Mi-Wok District Ranger Office, travel to Mi-Wok Village from Sonora on Highway 108.
