General Information

Description - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages Dierks Lake . Visitors are afforded many opportunities for an enjoyable outdoor recreation experience. Overnight accommodations, food, bait, tackle, etc. are available in the area. Visitors might want to take a day trip to some of the many local interesting sites including Hot Springs National Park and the Diamond Mines at Murfreesboro, Ark.

Attractions - Surrounded by beautiful hardwood and pine forests, Dierks Lake offers recreational opportunities to boaters and non-boaters alike. For the fisherman there are many coves, inlets, and flooded timber to fish for largemouth bass, small mouth bass, crappie, catfish and several species of sunfish. The main area of the 1,360 acre lake offers ample room for water skiers and recreational boaters. Below the lake at Horseshoe Bend,
canoeists and kayakers enjoy exciting sport when sufficient water is being released. The natural beauty of the steep ridges, dense forests, and
abundant wildlife make this area a favorite for the hunter.

Recreation - Visitors will enjoy boating, fishing, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping, and hunting at Dierks Lake.

Climate - Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties. Spring and winter months are the wettest of the year.

Location - Dierks Lake is found near the Ouachita National Forest. Located on the Saline River about five miles northwest of the town of Dierks. Dierks
Lake has easy access off Highway 70. From Texarkana, go 46 miles north on US 71, then 11 miles east on US 70 to access road.
