General Information

Description - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages DeQueen Lake. The project offers the visitor extensive opportunities for a memorable outdoor recreation experience. Food, bait, tackle, etc. are available near the lake. Project personnel are available and will be happy to assist in assuring you a pleasant stay.

Attractions - DeQueen Lake covers 1,680 surface acres and has 35 miles of shoreline. The lake is a fine fishing resource with deep open water and flooded standing timber. Major fish species include black bass, crappie, bream and catfish. Other recreational activities include camping, boating, water skiing, swimming, picnicking, and hunting. Over 1,000 of the project's 5,000 land acres are intensively managed for both game and non-game species of wildlife by the Corps of Engineers. Major game species include deer, rabbit, turkey, quail and ducks.

Recreation - Visitors will discover plenty of hunting and fishing opportunities at DeQueen Lake as well as some camping sites and hiking trails.

Climate - Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties. Spring and winter months are the wettest of the year.

Location - DeQueen Lake is located on the Rolling Fork River about four miles northwest of DeQueen. From DeQueen, travel eight miles north on US 71 and then five miles west to the lake.
