General Information

Description - Cradled between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains, Nimrod Lake is popular with fishermen and hunters alike. Six parks nestled along the lake provide modern camping facilities and an opportunity to relax amid the groves of tall, sweet-scented pines. Nimrod is conveniently located adjacent to State Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway and other nearby points of interest like Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, and Hot Springs National Park.

Attractions - Nimrod Lake offers largemouth bass, channel cat, crappie and bream. The project includes a duck hunting area, wildlife refuge, and goose sanctuary. Food and cover plots have been developed for quail.
Hiking and hunting are excellent in season.

Recreation - Nimrod Lake is a hunting and fishing paradise. Activities include camping, hiking, horseback riding, water sports and wildlife viewing.

Climate - Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties. Spring and winter months are the wettest of the year.

Location - Nimrod Lake is located on the Forche LaFave River in the Ouachita highlands of west central Arkansas. From Hot Springs, go 40 miles north on Arkansas Hwy. 7.
