Description - This route crosses over the gorgeous Kaibab Plateau and travels through the Kaibab National Forest and Grand Canyon National Park. There are plenty of places to hike and camp along the route. Groves of golden aspen, flowery meadows, ponds, outcrops of limestone, and steep slopes (on all sides) break up the dominance of the regal coniferous forest. Thousands of visitors travel to the Kaibab Plateau each fall to enjoy the vibrant colors of autumn leaves. Also, the Colorado and Kanab rivers flow right around the byway, so there is plenty of opportunity for water sports.The North Kaibab Ranger District is situated on the spectacular Kaibab Plateau, from which the forest takes it's name. The Plateau is one of the five large plateaus that comprise the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Bordered on the east by Saddle Mountain Wilderness and to the west by the Kanab Creek Wilderness, the Plateau provides breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon, Marble Gorge, House Rock Valley and the Vermilion Cliffs

This byway is located north of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona.
Directions from : The byway starts on State Highway 67 at Jacob Lake and continues to the end of Grand Canyon National Park on the North Rim. The North Rim park boundary is 30 miles south of Jacob Lake on State Route 67. The rim itself is 13 miles farther south. In order to get to the byway from Flagstaff, get on U.S. Highway 89 to Marble Canyon, and from there travel west to Jacob Lake where the byway starts.
