General Information

Description - Delta has become known as 'The City of Murals.' As you drive through town you'll see several murals (on buildings) painted by local artists depicting local scenes. Delta lies at the junction of Highways 50 and 92, therefore it is a good place to refuel and grab a bite to eat before continuing to your destination.

A bit of Native American history stands in Delta as your heading toward Grand Junction - the Ute Council Tree. Under this 200 year-old cottonwood tree, it is said, the Utes met with white leaders to settle their differences. The Ute Council Tree is a Colorado Landmark. Delta is a good place to refuel and grab a bite to eat before continuing to your destination.

Recreation - The headquarters for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests is located one mile south of Delta on Highway 50. If you are planning any adventures in those forests that's a good place to get specific information and maps.

Climate - The elevation of Delta is 4,980, which makes the temperatures seem mild compared to the mountain communities to the north, south and east.

Location - Delta lies on the Gunnison River on the western side of the western slope. Highways 50 and 92 meet in Delta, which makes it a good place to refuel and collect information.
