Looking into the Snowmass Creek Valley, scenic vistas abound for the hiker or backpacker in the Maroon-Snowmass Wilderness Area
Description - Snowmass Village is a world class resort and ski area. Most popular during the snowy winter months, Snowmass Village has a lot to offer in the summer as well.In the winter, Snowmass Village offers world-class alpine skiing and snowboarding. On average, about 300 inches of snow falls per year. That means that not only is the alpine skiing excellent, but snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and backcountry adventures are readily available.

During the summer months the backcountry opens to the greater population. Several trails that access the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness begin in Snowmass Village. The White River National Forest surrounds this small community. The waters of the Roaring Fork lie within ten miles of the village.

Alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are popular pursuits during the winter months. In summer visitors and locals alike enjoy hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, fishing, motorcycling and four-wheel driving.

Climate - Climate conditions in Colorado should be taken seriously throughout the state. Snow and ice are common on roads and trails from mid-October through late April. In the summer months snow is still possible but less common. Varying conditions throughout a given day can be expected throughout the year. Remember that summer days can typically have beautiful sunny mornings and short sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon. Please prepare appropriately for your outdoor experience.

Location - Snowmass Village is located eight miles from Aspen along the banks of Brush Creek. It is nestled in the high terrain of the Elk Mountains.
