Attractions - Delaware State Parks host a wide variety of outdoor recreations. A sampling includes Belleview State Park where summertime relaxation occurs under the stately hardwoods. Folks absorb a summer concert, enjoy a round of tennis, and meander through groomed gardens at the former estate of William duPont. Visitors are invited to tour the elegant mansion or rent the historic home for their own special gathering. Relive history at Fort Delaware State Park and enjoy a Saturday evening cruise aboard the Delafort. Environmental enthusiasts can explore the world of wetlands at Port Penn Interpretive Center. Delaware has four beach parks totaling fourteen miles of beachfront where saltwater anglers, swimmers, sunbathers, and surfers gather each summer. Family campgrounds invite you to spend a week along a sun-drenched beach. If crabbing is to your liking, don't miss Holts Landing State Park which is tucked on the south shore of Indian River Bay. In contrast, experience the deep cool woods of White Clay Creek State Park where hikers can experience an oasis of thick foliage and rushing waters. Two of the state's newest parks include Fox Point, a fine location for biking and picnicking and Fort DuPont, which is currently under development and promises to be one of the state's finest recreation destinations with features including tennis courts, ball field, fishing opportunities, and military history tours.

Recreation - Outdoor recreation available at Delaware State Parks includes boating, a variety of camping styles, fishing, game courts, viewing historical treasurers, horseback riding on both dirt trails and sand beaches, interpretive walks, backcountry hikes, mountain and street biking, picnicking, and swimming.

Climate - The Chesapeake and Delaware Bays moderate Delaware's climate. The state experiences four distinct seasons. Winter can be bitterly cold. Highs during this season average near freezing with low temperatures near 0 degrees F. Spring comes to this region in mid to late March. This is a pleasant time to visit with moderate temperatures and low humidity. Summer brings temperatures ranging from 80 to 90 degrees F. Humidity is highest inland with ocean breezes cooling the shoreline. Fall brings cooler temperatures and low humidity. The forested regions of the state often have brilliant foliage displays.

Location - Delaware State Parks lie primarily in the Northern and Southern Travel Regions. One park, Killens Pond, falls within Central Travel Region.
