Description
- The region of Georgia refereed to as the Piedmont is located in the north-central part of the state spanning its width from the Alabama border to the border with South Carolina. A major attraction to the area is the Oconee National Forest. There are also 13 State and Historic parks in the area.
Recreation - The national forest offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV use. The region's lakes and the Oconee River provide fishing and boating opportunities. Climate - The climate of north Georgia is temperate with moderately cold winters and warm, humid summers. Precipitation is fairly well distributed throughout the year; there are no wet or dry seasons. Location -
This area is located in the north-central part of the state and is bisected by I-20, which passes through Atlanta and on to Augusta.
