Description - Mid Coast Maine is one of the busiest areas of the state due to its beautiful coastal coves, pristine historic villages and famous lobster restaurants. Numerous bed and breakfasts offer the traveler a comfortable night's rest from what can sometimes be a hectic travel experience. State parks and historic forts dot the coastline offering spectacular ocean views, silent nature trails and impressive rock cliffs. Fishing sites, such as Damariscotta Lake and Lake St. George offer some of the East Coast's finest warmwater and coldwater fishing opportunities. The state stocks these waters with trout, salmon, bass and more.

- The Mid Coast Region is characterized by thousands of inlet, coves and deep harbors. It is known for its multi-generation lobster fishermen. Maritime museums, enchanting farmlands, antique shops and more draw thousands of visitors each year.
Recreation - Popham Beach State Park is known as one of Maine's most beautiful coastal state parks with its uniquely beautiful sand beach. Birch Point State Park, Warren Island State Park and Reid State Park offer picnicking, trails, sight seeing and more. Camden Hills State Park is known for its W.W.I memorial offering gorgeous panoramic views of both the mountains and the North Atlantic. Visible from the trail heights is Acadia National Park. Nearby inland lakes offer seasonal fishing opportunities, camping and hiking. Climate - The summer vacation haven of Mid Coast Maine sees winter temperatures averaging above 18 degrees Fahrenheit (below -12 Celsius) and average summer temperatures above 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius).
