Description - With countless museums, spectacular scenery, protected state and federal lands, tours of the world-class Biltmore Estate, the pleasurable Blue Ridge Parkway, and the many outdoor recreation opportunities including canoeing, kayaking, cold-water fishing, tubing, camping, scenic driving and more, make this area a vacation destination all seasons of the year.

- This is one of the East Coast's most visited areas. There are countless museums, historical sites, state and national lands, cultural events along with craft and artisan exhibits. The famous Biltmore Estate resides in this region along with the Blue Ridge Parkway, Thomas Wolfe Memorial, Western North Carolina Nature Center, the North Carolina Arboretum which sits on 426 acres in Bent Creek, Folk Art Center, Grove Park Inn, Asheville Motor Speedway, Western North Carolina Agricultural Center and Lake Lure.
Recreation - The Asheville area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts offering canoeing, kayaking, fishing, tubing on French Broad River, private campgrounds, Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mount Mitchell State Park, Lake James State Park, South Mountains State Park and scenic driving tours. Climate - Winter daytime temperatures average below 36 degrees Fahrenheit (below 2 Celsius). Summer daytime temperatures average below 76 degrees Fahrenheit (below 24 Celsius). The state has a fairly wet climate with an average precipitation for this area averaging 44 to 48 inches (112 to 122 centimeters). Location -
