Boone's Cave State Park- Boone's Cave is a day-use park located north of Salisbury and west of Lexington along the Yadkin River.
Guilford Courthouse National Military Park- The battle fought here on March 15, 1781, opened the campaign that led to Yorktown and the end of the Revolution.
Hanging Rock State Park- A beautiful park offering lovely cabins and nicely situated campsites, sparkling mountain streams tumbling over rough and rugged terrain. An observation tower, many interesting hiking trails and rock climbing opportunities make this a memorable visit.
Pilot Mountain State Park- Pilot Mountain is one of the most visible and recognizable geologic formations in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Two prominent pinnacles tower above the surrounding landscape. The park lies in two sections connected by way of a 5-mile multi-use trail.
Stone Mountain State Park- The dome-shaped monadnock granite mass is visible for miles. Gentle streams, waterfalls, trails and the igneous rock draw anglers, hikers, horseback riders and climbers year after year.
W Kerr Scott Dam And Reservoir- W. Kerr Scott Reservoir is located in the heart of the beautiful Yadkin River Valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Hanging Rock State Park
Description - The home of textile manufacturers and furniture makers offers the individual the opportunity to leave the thriving business and industrial area behind and enjoy a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities. The outdoor areas are: Pilot Mountain State Park, Hanging Rock State Park, Boone's Cave State Park, Belews Lake and Yadkin River. Some of the historical attractions include: Horne Creek Living Historical Farm, Old Salem, Historic Bethabara Park, Reynolda House Museum of American Art and Korner's Folly. College life includes the beautiful Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University and University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Recreation - Recreational opportunities include several local parks and ball fields, community swimming pools, private golf courses, hundreds of acres on public lands where you may fish, hike, camp and cross-country ski. Rock climbing opportunities are some of the best east of the Mississippi. In addition to the outdoor opportunities, the area is dotted with historical museums, artisan exhibits and cultural opportunities. Locals tours include R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company the the Stroh Brewery Company.

Climate - Winter daytime temperatures range from 36 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 4 Celsius). Summer daytime temperatures range from 76 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit (24 to 26 Celsius). Spring and Fall daytime temperatures range from 71 to 73 (20's Celsius). The state has a fairly wet climate with an average precipitation for this area averaging slightly less than 44 inches (112 centimeters).

Location - The Winston-Salem-Greensboro area is located along the US 40 and I- 85. It is accessible from US 52 from Fancy Gap, Virginia and US 29 from Danville, Virginia. Interstate 77 runs in a north-south direction just east of the area.
