General Information

Description - Eisenhower Memorial Wayside Park is located just west of the White Mountains Presidential Range. The park is located along US 302 with an area for picnicking and access to a trail which leads to views of the range. The park is open year-round to travelers and their pets. There is no fee associated with this park.

Attractions - Located just south of Fabyan on US 302 this small wayside park offers an opportunity to hike to an area where you may view the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. Picnic tables are also available at this memorial site.

The wayside is a nice traveler's rest stop nestled in a recreation mecca. Nearby features include both natural and man-made attractions such as the Alpine Gardens, Tuckerman Ravine, Mt. Washington Museum, Mt. Washington State Park, Crawford Notch State Park, Franconia Notch State Park, the historic Mt. Washington Cog Railway, Gibbs Brook Scenic Area, Dry River Wilderness, Sugarloaf Mountain Resort and immediately north of Eisenhower Memorial Wayside Park, the gorgeous Bretton Woods Resort. Bretton Woods has a long-standing reputation for hospitality and service. Whether you prefer a luxurious grand hotel, traditional New England inn, or family-style lodging, Bretton Woods Resort accommodates them all. Numerous food options include meals for the hungry traveler or a leisurely repast for the vacationing guest. Meals range from four-course dinners to casual pub fare to hearty country meals. Recreation abounds summer and winter including an indoor swimming pool, a challenging 27-hole golf course, 12 tennis courts, downhill and cross-country skiing opportunities, snowmobile paths and an ice skating area.

Recreation - This small wayside park offers an opportunity to dine outdoors and take a short hike to views of the Presidential Range in White Mountains. Pets are allowed at this no fee park. It is open year-round. At the nearby Bretton Woods Resort Recreation abounds summer and winter including an indoor swimming pool, a challenging 27-hole golf course, 12 tennis courts, downhill and cross-country skiing opportunities, snowmobile paths and an ice skating area.

Climate - Winter can be cold with average temperatures ranging around 19 degrees Fahrenheit. The cold temperatures humidity bring heavy, water-laden snow to all parts of the state. Spring begins in mid-March and lasts through May. This time of the year is referred to as mud season in the mountains. The sugar is flowing early in the season and wild flowers bloom toward the end of it. Summer is the busiest season of the year for the tourism industry. This is an excellent time to travel, mountain roads are open and most of the mud has dried. Average summer temperatures range around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Fall brings the leaf lookers to see the spectacular colors of the deciduous trees. Expect to see bus loads of people enjoying the crisp fall New England weather.

Location - Located in the White Mountains area, Crawford's Purchase, Eisenhower Memorial Wayside Park is located along US 302 just south of Fabyan.
