Recreation - The Valleys of the Susquehanna Area offer valleys, rivers, meadows and woodlands which make for an irresistible getaway. The area is blessed with numerous beautiful state parks. Each offers diverse activities ranging from historical sites to fabulous trout waters. Swimming lakes, picnic groves, viewing scenery, wildlife and wildflowers is a favorite pastime. Camping is enjoyed year-round as well as mountain biking and horseback riding. Winter sports abound in the area including, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice fishing. Climate - Pennsylvania generally has a moist climate with cold winters and warm summers. The Valleys of the Susquehanna Area generally has cold winter months. This western region has temperatures averaging around 22 degrees Fahrenheit (-6 degrees Celsius). The region's average summer temperatures range around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius). Location -
The Valleys of the Susquehanna is located in the center of the state encompassing 12 counties. The Pocono Area rests to the east and northeast, Allegheny National Forest Area rests to the north and west, while Laurel Highlands rests on the southwest corner and Hershey / Dutch Country rests on the southeastern border.
