Fowlers Hollow State Park

Description - In the late 1800's, the picnic area was the site of a sawmill that supplied lumber and bark products to the forest industry. Today, Fowlers Hollow State Park offers camping for tent and RV camping, a picnic area with shelter, a children's playground, trout fishing opportunities and miles of hiking trails which traverse Tuscarora State Forest. Cross-country skiing is enjoyed in winter. The park's campground is especially favored by hunters because of the quick access to Tuscarora State Forest.Fowlers Hollow has parking facilities and a comfort station and serves as a trailhead for snowmobiling in the state forest. The 46-mile trail network is open daily after the end of antlerless deer season in late December.

- In the late 1800's, the picnic area was the site of a sawmill that supplied lumber and bark products to the forest industry. The Perry Lumber Company Railroad left the park to the south and wound its way out toward what is now PA Route 274 near the Bryner Ranger Station, by New Germantown.
Recreation - Fowlers Hollow State Park offers camping for tent and RV campers. This campground is especially favored by hunters because it offers quick access to Tuscarora State Forest. The area has picnicking with one picnic shelter available. A playground is located along Fowler Hollow Run. It is within walking distance for campers and picnickers. Fowler Hollow Run traverses the area and provides trout fishing. The stream receives a preseason stocking of brook trout. The area is a trailhead for a variety of hiking trails within and connecting to the trail system of the Tuscarora State Forest. The Tuscarora Big Blue Trail is located nearby. Hunting is permitted on adjacent state forest lands. Terrain is moderately hilly to mountainous and favors turkey and deer populations. There are 2 miles of designated trail southwest of the camp area for cross-country skiing. Skiing is also permitted in all areas of the park. The Valleys of the Susquehanna area generally has cold winter months with temperatures averaging from 24 to 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 to -2 degrees Celsius). Fowlers Hollow State Park is located 7 miles south of Blain, Perry County. The area can be reached from Blain by turning south from PA Route 274 at the east end of town, go one-quarter-mile, turn right over the bridge. The area can also be reached off PA Route 274 west of New Germantown on Upper Buck Ridge Road.
