The chance to sleep in an authentic retired caboose, put-and-take trout fishing and outstanding camping facilities highlight the outdoor fun at Two Rivers SRA, located southwest of Venice. The 622-acre area boasts 320 acres of water in several sandpit lakes. Besides a variety of fishing opportunities and non-powered boating, there is an unsupervised swimming beach and concession. Two Rivers also has bicycles for rent and an accessible fishing pier.
With five camping areas and 206 padded sites, Two Rivers can handle everything from pup tents to huge RVs on 61 pads with hookups (30 amp). Some have water hookups. Modern restrooms, showers, drinking water, and a dump station are conveniently located. For those camping with a tent, Two Rivers offers tent camping sites.
Ten bright cabooses were refurbished by the Game and Parks Commission to sleep six. Permanently side-tracked on actual rails, the cabooses offer a unique lodging opportunity from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Two Rivers is a high density recreation area with 302 acres of land and 320 acres in 5 ponds adjacent to the Platte River. This area offers Modern Camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. There are camper pads with electrical hook-ups. This area features a put-and-take trout lake and 10 caboose camper cabins.
At Two Rivers State Recreation Area, 10 Union Pacific cabooses have been remodeled and restored for park lodging. The integrity of the caboose was retained in the process. The cabooses offer a unique lodging experience for park-goers. The cabooses are air-conditioned for hot summer use. They sleep six people, with two bunk beds in the rear and two mattresses in the cupola. Each is equipped with a modern bathroom, which includes a tiled shower. A stove, refrigerator, sink and a few cabinets make up the kitchen. A table, with four chairs and couch for two, serve as the dining area. For those who enjoy outdoor dining, there is a deck with picnic table and grill.
To enjoy your caboose to the fullest, please plan ahead to bring the following items: Bedding or sleeping bags (mattresses provided), towels and soap, eating utensils, charcoal and lighter fluid for grill cooking, cooking utensils, pillows. No pets are allowed in the cabooses. Reservations may be made one year in advance in person, by phone or mail.

Recreation - This area offers Modern Camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. Climate - Nebraska has a moderate climate with high humidity. The relative humidity in this state averages 70 percent throughout the year. Winter temperatures normally average between 20 and 45 degrees F. March brings warmer weather and temperatures above freezing for most of the month. Spring is in full swing by late April when temperatures often reach above 60 degrees F. Summer temperatures reach highs of 95 degrees F frequently, with warm weather continuing into mid September. Crisp fall weather truly begins in October when nighttime temperatures begin to dip into the low 40s. The wettest time of the year in this state is late spring through summer. Location -
From Omaha , take Q street (west) all the way out or Center Street to 264th street and turn South at the flashing light.
From Lincoln take I_80 East; get off at the Gretna exit, go North and take Hwy 31/6 North to Q street then go West.
From Fremont or Omaha take Hwy 275 to Meigs Street/252nd exit in Valley, Ne, go South crossing the railroad tracks then take 264th street, exit just before 3-M entrance and go straight South 6 miles past the flashing light.
From I-80 get off on West Dodge exit take Dodge street west to the "Y" choose Hwy 92 and take it to 264th Street turn South at the flashing light at Venice Nebraska.
