Recreation - This is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing afternoon. Guided tours of the Springwood home are held regularly. The FDR Library and Museum are offered on a self-guided basis. Many visitors enjoy strolling the beautiful grounds that include the Rose Garden and burial sites of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt. There are several miles of hiking trails in addition to a bookstore operated by the not-for-profit Roosevelt-Vanderbilt Historic Association. The Dutchess County Tourist Information Center is located in the Roosevelt Carriage House accompanying the bookstore. Other outdoor recreation includes bird watching, nature walks, fishing and wintertime snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Climate - The Taconic / Hudson Valley Travel Region has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from above 22 degrees down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Location -
