General Information

Description - The Utah Field House Museum is located in Vernal, Utah, near Dinosaur National Monument. The site includes inside and outdoor exhibits. In the garden visitors will find seventeen life-size prehistoric animal replicas. In the Field House visitors will find ancient fossil skeletal reproductions, archaeological and geological exhibits, fluorescent minerals and other natural history aspects of the Uinta Mountains and Uinta Basin. Also on the grounds are well manicured lawns and a picnic area with a group pavilion.

Attractions - The facilities at this state park include interpretive exhibits, paleontological reproductions and modern restrooms. A picnic area is located behind the museum. Camping is available at nearby
Steinaker and Red Fleet state parks

Recreation - Visitors to the Field House Museum can view interpretive exhibits and audiovisual presentations, walk around the grounds and gardens and picnic under the pavilion. Further recreation opportunities, such as hiking, biking, off-road vehicle use and camping are available in the surrounding Bureau of Land Management lands.

Climate - This state park lies at an elevation of 5,300 feet within the northeastern portion of Utah in the rain shadow of the Wasatch Mountains. The climate is arid with hot summers and cold winters. Temperatures can vary greatly within one day so layered clothing is recommended in any season. Warm temperatures usually begin in May and last into September. Cool weather can begin in August. Warm layers should be in every campers wardrobe, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses and a brimmed hat.

Location - The museum and dinosaur garden are in the heart of Dinosaurland, Vernal, Utah, which lies in the northeastern portion of the state.
