Description - Originally a little over 350 acres in size, McCormick’s
Creek State Park has grown to its present
size through acquisition of surrounding farms and
homesteads as they come up for sale. Much of the
park’s building improvements came in the 1930’s
when the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) was
in the park. The CCC men constructed most of the
shelter houses, the old stone bridge, and the firetower.
Another surge of development came in the
early 1970’s when the present campgrounds, nature
center and swimming pool were added. Today the
park is a delightful combination of history set in up to-
date modern surroundings.

Recreation - McCormick's Creek State Park offers; interpretive programs, picnicking, hiking, trail rides, camping, swimming and a recreation center. Climate - Visitors to this state can expect hot and humid summer days that often reach 90 degrees F in July and August. Summer nights bring little relief with an average temperature of 70. Winter can be extremely cold in this Midwestern state with a yearly average of 40 inches of snow and low temperatures dipping to negative 15 degrees F. Winter daytime highs average close to 40 degrees. Spring and fall are excellent times to visit Indiana spring brings blooming wildflowers and daytime highs of 65 degrees F. With falls mild temperatures the leaves in the forested southern regions of the state change to brilliant hues. Location -
McCormick's State Park is located along the White River, 14 miles northwest of Bloomington. The entrance to the park is off of IND 46 between Spencer and Bloomington.
