Description
- Located where the old town of Petersburg once thrived during the 1790s, Bobby Brown State Park is named in memory of Lt. Robert T. Brown,U.S. Navy, who gave his life in World War II. When water levels are low, visitors can see some foundations of the old town and imagine large plantations once flourishing. This 665 acre park's strategic location on a 70,000 acre man-made lake provides excellent hiking, fishing and water recreation. This park has 61 tent, trailer, and RV sites, two picnic shelters, a pool and concessions, and a dock and a boat ramp.
Recreation - Plenty of water activities can be found at Bobby Brown State Park. Fishing, water skiing, swimming, and boating opportunities are enjoyed at the park. Canoe and pedal boat rentals are available. For hiking and camping enthusiasts, 1.9 miles of trails to a lake overlook and two pioneer camping areas with shelters exist at the park. Climate - Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter, especially at the higher elevations in northern Georgia. Location -
Bobby Brown State Park is located along the northeastern border of Georgia and South Carolina in the Piedmont Region of Georgia. To reach the park, go 21 miles southeast of Elberton off Georgia Hwy. 72.
