Description
- The 173 acre Florence Marina State Park offers the perfect setting for those who love water sports. It is adjacent to a natural deep-water marina with an accessible deep-water fishing pier, boat slips, and boat ramp. The Kirbo Interpretive Center teaches visitors about Native Americans, nature and local history, and it displays artifacts from the prehistoric Paleo-Indian period through the early 20th century. Tours of the undisturbed Rood Creek Indian Mounds and Fort McCreary are also available. There are 44 tent, trailer, and RV campsites and six cottages available for overnight accommodations. Visitors will enjoy a clubhouse, a swimming pool, two tennis courts, and a miniature golf course. Boaters will appreciate the 66 boat slips for rent and the lighted fishing pier.
Recreation - Florence Marina State Park is offers water-related activities. Boating, fishing, swimming, and camping are of primary interest. Tennis, miniature golf, and interpretive tours are also available. Climate - Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Florence Marina State Park is located in the Plains Region of western Georgia near the border of Alabama and Georgia. The park is found 16 miles west of Lumpkin at the end of Georgia Hwy. 39C.
