Description
- Seventy acre Fort Morris State Historic Site offers its visitors a view of an old earthworks fort that once protected America from the British. Today, visitors can stand within the earthwork remains and view scenic Saint Catherine's Sound. A museum describes the colonial port of Sunbury and the site's history. Schools and group tours are welcome with advance notice. Fort Morris also offers a Visitors Center, a nature trail, and seven picnic sites.
Recreation - At Fort Morris State Historic Site, visitors can take advantage of hiking, picnicking, bird-watching, and touring the museum. Climate - Georgia has a warm climate, especially in the southern regions of the state. Expect high temperatures and humidity levels during spring and summer months. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Location -
Fort Morris State Historic Site is located in the Coastal Region of southeastern Georgia. The park is found 7 miles east of I-95 off of exit #13 via Island Parkway and Fort Morris Road.
