Description
- Landowners along the Little Ocmulgee River began donating land for Little Ocmulgee State Park in 1935. With the help of residents, the Civilian Conservation Corps and the National Park Service, roads, buildings and a dam were built and opened to the public in 1940. Today, visitors can enjoy the park's 265-acre lake with beach, nature trail, tennis courts, seasonal mini-golf, amphitheater, and a 30 room lodge and restaurant with conference facilities. Within the park's 1,277 acres, 58 tent, trailer and RV campsites, a group and pioneer camp, ten cottages, six picnic shelters, and a group shelter are available. The park's championship 18-hole golf course features a clubhouse, golf pro, unlimited weekday play and senior citizen discounts.
Recreation - Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge offers its visitors hiking along a foot trail and boardwalk, boating and fishing with ramp access, canoe and pedal boat rental, tennis, water skiing, swimming, golfing, camping, and picnicking activities. Climate - Georgia has a warm climate, especially in the southern regions of the state. Expect high temperatures and humidity levels during spring and summer months. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Location -
Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge is located southeast of Macon in the Coastal Region of southern Georgia. The park is found two miles north of McRae via U.S. Hwys. 319 and 441.
