Description
- Named for the soil's rich red color caused by high iron-ore content, Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area for iron. The park is located on a 1,950-acre peninsula along Lake Allatoona and is ideal for swimming, boating and fishing. A special feature is the abundant wildlife, and visitors are encouraged to see a reconstructed 1860s homestead from Georgia's past. The park's 33-room lodge, restaurant and meeting facilities make this park a great getaway for individuals and groups. This park is in the highlands region of Georgia.
Recreation - The park offers 92 tent, trailer, and RV campsites. There are 18 cottages available to rent, as well as the 33 room lodge and restaurant. The picnic area has 9 shelters. Swimming beach, a marina, and tennis courts are also onsite. Climate - Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers.
