We live 3 miles from this park. Hike it almost weekly , except in hottest part of summer. This morining on the Bird Trail ( .8 miles)saw 3 mule deer grazing. Have seen deer, jack rabbit, coyotte, gila monster, western diamondback, lots of lizards. Offical trails can be busy at times- 10-20 people. There are miles of informal trails in the park. At times enough water in some of the higher streams to swim- although this may occur in mid winter with 50 deg water. Parts of this are in or touch Coronado National Forest Wilderness and access is restricted in those areas during big horn sheep breeding season- Des 31- Apr.30
