This park is just outstanding! The views are incredible - we could spend a whole evening just sitting on one of the many, many large rock overlooks and looking at the green mountains, the trains go through the tunnels, and watching the sun go down. The sunsets here are the closest thing that I have seen to a Key West sunset - just beautiful. At our last visit we stood at an overlook and watched a storm roll in - the fog swooshed up & down the sides of the mountain, rising from the river below, coming at us like thick white blankets until we couldn't see a foot in front of us. And then just as fast it would blow away. The hiking trails are excellent - well developed, clearly marked paths always leading to a destination worth seeing. You can find huge rock formations with cave-like shelters underneath, breath-taking views, nature & wildlife (we see lots of deer everytime we go). True, the roads leading to the park are twisting, tiny curvy little roads - but it is very much worth it. The restuarant is very nice, offering great views of canyon-like area, the pool is huge & clean, and the sleeping accomodations are varied and well-thought out.

Beautiful scenic overlooks, reasonably priced. Great camping area- we enjoyed it even in the pouring rain, and we had only a tent. Take your all you food supplies, the nearby towns all involve navigating the snaking country roads. The restaurant overlooks the canyon's breathtaking view. Wildlife is friendly and easy to spot all around the park. Great spot for family outing
