My family just spent three days camping here and it was amazing. The trails are well maintained, the falls are incredibly beautiful, and the scenery made the drive from Denver well worth it. The walk in tent sites are spaced perfectly to allow for quite a bit of privacy and quiet. It seems to be a pretty popular place for families. The kids loved the caves and playing at the base of the falls. The one fall that is diverted does nothing to detract from the beauty or atmosphere of the falls as a whole and adds a touch of history to the area. Will definitely be going back.

Hiking trails and caves in the Rifle Falls area are very family friendly. I would highly suggest walking at the very least the trail that leads above the falls. There are two overlooks that are very impressive. The Bobcat trail also leads to an area north of the falls that contains smaller but beautiful falls. After reading a previous report I expected to be disappointed by the falls. I WAS NOT. The third "fake" fall is a product of the first ever hydroelectric plant in western Colorado. There are signs that give you the history on the short hike above the falls. In my opinion this "fake and disappointing" falls adds to the overall history and experience of the area. We camped in the walk in sites. I would also recommend these, as they are very private and spaced fairly far apart.

We stopped to visit Rifle Falls this July. Even though the falls were pretty, I was disappointed. Why? The falls have been divereted - one of the streams falls from a drainage pipe! After all the beautiful, natural scenery we saw, Rifle Falls seemed to me to be fake. But my sons really liked it here - they loved the exploring the caves and walking around. I guess I like like my scenery more natural. It's a good place for a stop, and short hike, but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time here.

Made a tradition of camping here in October of the year in the walk-in sites. This was around ten years ago. We were the only ones there, the weather was perfect, it was color time, it was private and absolutely gorgeous. Rifle Gap Falls is a gorgeous park all year round. Highly recommended!

Beautiful little falls. Avoid the weekends. The locals like to picnic there. Nice trails. Try sites 9-4-6. Esp. 9. Reservations recommended. Take the trails over the falls,and don't forget your camera! Don't miss the caves.

Beautiful falls and not so deep caves for kids to safely explore. Short trails lead to behind, top and bottom of falls. Camp site #13 is terrible for privacy as well as sites #11 & 10. It is at a lower elevation in a more arid part of Colorado and therefore in July was hot. Sites do have electricity. Tight winding paved road leads to park. One night was plenty. Saw it all and was time to move on.
