Stumbled upon the Rt. 44 entrance driving near my home. Just 10 minutes away and never knew it! Ranger stopped me and seemed upset. He said I needed to check in at the park entrance. He was nice, but I was surprised by his stopping me. At first I thought I was in a restricted area, but not a sign around telling a guest not to enter without going to the Park entrance, which is 15 miles away. A beautiful place, but a little better communication on the part of the DEP would be appreciated. I don't like being treated like a trespasser on public land...I am a taxpayer, ya know.
