Backpacking on the Pine Mountain Trail is great. There are 13 designated sites along the trail. The trail runs through old hardwoods, with cold springs and waterfalls. Unlike North Georgia, FDR is easy to get to, and a great to visit in that you can choose a long or short hike or backpacking trip. There are several loops, and shuttles are free. The trail is well marked and the map is plain and accurate. Jonathan Hall
