Guided tour provided by Park Service. 25 cubscouts and their parents in two groups. Left Whirlpool State Park, walked down steps into Gorge. A little rugged trail about two miles down. Rocky in spots. Trip was taken in late fall after the water level was lowered. Could see more of the rock formations than usual. You could feel the spray from the rapids just inches from death if you fell in. Perfectly round holes carved in solid rock from smaller pepples wearing into the larger, softer rock. Had lunch on some of the large rock outcroppings right next to the rapids. To look up and see the rock cliffs above you and hanging over you. Makes you feel like they are going to fall any minute. Some rare plants and trees in the gorge. The adults were sore after the trip because of the rocky trail, but every one of them enjoyed the trip tremendously. The boys, aged from 8 to 11 years old did a great job and are talking about going again this summer. Highly reccommended
