One of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen, deep blue water surrounded by blue ridge mountains! We had a tent site right on the water, hooked up the boat right next to the campsite, paddled to falls all weekend; just beautiful. Not overdeveloped, but be sure to book a campsite in advance as they do get full. Pretty good hikes, but If you love to paddle or do any watersports it doesnt get any better. Water is beautiful and cool. There are also more upscale villas for those who arent crazy about 'roughing it', reservations for tent sites, rv sites and villas made through devil's fork state park (also where you can launch a boat).

Devils Fork is very popular. When the park is full try Maplecrest at Lake Jocassee which is a very comfortable alternative with year round availibility. I think they have a web site and it was a great family vacation destination.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Have rented the cabins, camped, kayaked, rented a pontoon for the day, enjoyed the many waterfalls. Lake Jocassee is the clearest water. Simply a wonderful place!
