I have always loved Edisto Island, I spent many hours at Edisto when I was a teenager, and as an adult. I have also camped at Edisto, and I love the feeling of waking in the morning to the sound of the ocean waves. The waves are great for body-surfing or boogie boarding. There is no place like Edisto,it still maintains that wildness that the drew the Native Americans to it.

I just spent two nights on the beach at Edisto State Park. It was very relaxing being right on the ocean. This is a very nice beach with shells galore. The facilities were good. I rented center console boat from Island Outfitters and spent about 4 hrs cruising the edisto river. Very Nice and highly recommend this. For outside dining the sunset grill was good. This beach is next to edisto beach which is nice but I do not like the dikes that have been put in the water. The state park beach is natural. I highly recommend this beach if the outdoors next to the ocean is your thing. Local grocery store - piggly wiggly and shops. For Wal-mart size stores you have to head back to charleston which is about 30-40 miles. Also the 4 mile nature trail is very nice and takes you over the marsh area. Recommend highly

Edisto Beach State park has been our family's favorite camping location for over 10 years. Being lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves is most relaxing, but it can be quite hot in mid July. The convenience of a full-service right across the road is a real plus.
