I had a wonderful time camping at Kings Mountain. We loved the hike from the campground to the Living History Farm. They had people dressed up like during the 1800's doing chores out there. The kids really enjoyed chasing the chickens and using the peddle boats at the lake too. Already made reservations for next year!

I encourage you to visit Kings Mountain State Park Campground and picnic area especially in the Spring as the dogwoods are so beautiful. The minature golf course has been replaced by a brand new playground for the children. The kids really love it. It's nice to have a picnic in the picnic area near the playground. We really enjoyed our picnic and our stay in the campground.

Although it is located in a very nice setting, this park is poorly managed and not well-maintained. The campsites are unlevel, the roads in the campground are extremely dusty and constantly in bad repair, and the campground store is only opened on the weekends. A historical farm area on the park has been allowed to fall into disrepair. It is rarely opened and the only animals there are a horse and donkey, which look to be barely alive. If it were better managed and maintained, this park would have great potential to be very nice family destination. However, it is currently in poor condition, and there is very little to see or do.

VERY NICE AND RELAXING PLACE. MY FAMILY ENJOYED OUR STAY UNDER THE COOLING TREES OF THE CAMPSITE. MY SON AND I ENJOYED AN ISOLATED WALK IN THE WOODS

I walked a little used trail from the Visitor Center in the state park side over to an area called Fire Tower by locals (because it used to be the site of an observation tower). The trail is quite hilly in places, and would be difficult for some, but the views and near-isolation are well worth it. There are little amenities in the park itself, but everything you need is within reasonable driving distance. Get what you need before you enter the park. Especially if you're going to wander off of the main trails.
