If you are looking for a good place to ride your bike on paved surfaces, near Memphis, this is it. There is a short (2.5mi) bike trail with steep climbs and a very interesting Zig-Zag up a cliff side. You can also ride on the park roads and get a real workout. Much shade. Not crowded at all on weekdays.

We hiked the Woodland Trail on April 10, 2003. This is a loop trail (up to 3 miles) which has an incredible profusion of wildflowers (both in sheer numbers and variety) this time of year. Some include red trilliums, blue phlox, Virginia bluebells, jack-in-the-pulpits, etc. The trail winds around a small brook and up and down the steep bluffs among mature hardwood forest. Highly recommended. There are about 20 miles of hiking trails in this park as well as 2 nice lakes for fishing. Shelby Forest Gen. Store has fishing supplies and food
