Beautiful well kept park with a great swimming pool. I recommend this park more for day use. Day use area is wonderful with a playground an plenty of picnic tables spread out with bbq pits. RV sites have no trees to speak of. Tent sites are way too close together and you have to haul all your equipment down a short but steep incline. I think local inmates from the prison take care of maintenance so if this makes you nervous, you've been warned, but they all wave and appear to be friendly.

The only tough part of my trip to Lockhart state park was first come first serve. Eventhough I did get a nice camp spot I did see others that I would have like to have. If you ever have chance to visit the park I suggest hiking the trails they are nice, quiet, and relaxing. My daugthers love to go up devils mountain eventhough thats a made up name and the mountain is basically a large hill where the reception hall sits. when you reach the top you can see all of the park its worth the trip. In lockhart the bar b que places are all great places to eat, when your in lockhart thats the only thing to eat. It could be blacks, kruez, chisolm trail, and even the new smittys i hear its go. So when ever your in Lockhart takes some bar-b-que and go to the state park you wont regret it oh yea the staff is really nice and very helpfull.
