The cave tour was very impressive. It was about $12.99 per adult and there was a $1 discount per military member. The caves did not have many stalactites or stalagmites compared to other caverns I have been to, but they did have a "room" in the cave that had crystals embedded into the cave wall. It was really beautiful. It was a pretty large cave and a decent walk. About 3/4 mile into the cave and another 3/4 mile back out of the cave. I wouldn't recommend this state park if you are only going for the hiking. The trails were very short and pretty uninteresting. We finished all of the trails in the entire park in about 40 minutes, so don't go for the hiking trails alone. But the caverns were really neat and worth the drive.

This is a nice place to come visit every few years. Nice facilities. Good price. The caverns were a little disapointing because much of the caverns are no longer living rock but the history of the place is interesting. For live caverns I would recommend the Cave with No Name in Boerne, TX.

This cave is very curvy. You can see some bats in the cave (just ask your guide to point them out). It looks like you're in a castle at the first part before you go into the cave! There is a lot of neat old castle buildings made out of rocks. There is crystal rooms with these square crystals all on the walls. Some of the people who come to the cave don't know this, but you can go to the top of the Castle (the CCC Building) there is a stairway in the back! Also you should bring a laser pointer to shine into the crystals in the crystal room of the cave!

My husband and I took our three children to LongHorn Caverns in July of 2001. We are new to the area, so this was a treat to find that it was so close. The Caverns are very well taken care of and our tour guide was extrememly knowledgeable about the formation, surrounding area and history behind the caverns. The Caverns themselves, are SO BEAUTIFUL! We've been through alot of different caves and this was the first that we've seen that was actually formed this particular way. We loved it and would highly recommend it...in fact, we plan on taking our visiting family there this winter!
