My wife and I visited this park on Sept 6, 2003 for a few hours. The staff maintain two blinds at bird baths and feeders. The grate-protected feeders attracted a hybrid Cardinal/Pyrruloxia, Scrub Jays, Black-throated Sparrows, Inca Doves, etc. The campground had migrating Baltimore Orioles and "wild" turkeys. Hanging from the porch of the office were several well-maintained nectar feeders with dozens of hummers, including Ruby-throats and probably Black-chins, though we saw no males of the latter. Several people were swimming in the rapids, so there is something here for everyone. By the way, the hills south of Junction were dazzling - heavily blanketed with purple- blooming Texas Sage (Leucophyllum frutescens) of the Scrophulariaceae family.

Additional Information
Hill Country - The Hill Country region is located in central Texas. Because of its hilly scenery, this is one of the more popular areas in Texas for outdoor recreation.
Panhandle Plains - This region encompasses the Texas Panhandle and much of northern Texas. This region makes up the southern end of the Great Plains of the central United States.
Texas State Parks - Texas State Parks occupy more than 500,000 acres of pristine ecosystems, historical sites and facilities. The state parks, state natural areas and state historic sites are scattered throughout Texas.
