Description - Salinas River State Beach protects one of Monterey Bay's most interesting sand dune areas. The beach is home to many species of wild birds, including Western meadowlarks, hawks, jays, valley quail, finches, towhees and sparrows as well as shorebirds that winter along the bay.

Climate - The Climate of the Central Coast varies greatly. At this State Beach you can expect moderate temperatures year round with fog likely from June through mid-August. Visiting during the late summer or fall ensures the best conditions for viewing scenery. Occasional clear days between winter and spring storms do occur.
