Attractions - San Simeon State Park sits on a beautiful portion of the California coastline, near the Hearst Castle. The park consists of 540 acres of coastal terrain. The park lies south of the community of San Simeon and is split by California State Highway 1. The beach, and day-use, area of the park stretches two miles between San Simeon Creek and Santa Rosa Creek. The camping area of the park lies across the highway somewhat inland. (San Simeon State Park is the closest camping facility to Hearst Castle.) Facilities at this park include picnic tables, restrooms, showers, boat ramp, dump station and campsites (for tents and RVs without hookups).

The San Simeon Creek Campgrounds offers 115 campsites for tent camping or recreational vehicles. The maximum length for a RV is 35 feet. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. Water spigots are available throughout the campground. Restrooms with flush toilets and coin operated showers, a dump station and water fill-up for RV's, and pay phones are also available. Firewood is for sale from the campground host.

Recreation - San Simeon State Park offers a variety of recreation opportunities. Water sports, such as boating, swimming, surfing and fishing are available throughout the year. On terra firma visitors can enjoy camping, picnicking, beachcombing and viewing scenery. In addition, visitors may wish to tour the nearby Hearst Castle.

Climate - During spring and fall the sun shines most days. Summer fogs can be thick and cool, while fall brings "Indian summer" and temperatures in the high 80s. Most of the precipitation comes in the winter in the form of rain, turning the golden hillsides green.

Location - San Simeon State Park is located along Highway 1, between Cambria and San Simeon, north of San Luis Obispo, on the Central Coast. The park is located several miles south of the entrance to Hearst Castle.
